1.This petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (in short, ‘Cr.P.C’) seeking issuance of direction to the respondents to provide necessary police protection/security to the petitioner from the threats of the family members of the petitioner.

2.It is stated that the petitioner was married on 27.11.2023 and subsequent to her marriage, and due to the ill treatment by the husband and her in-laws, she walked away from her marriage. She states that the family members of the petitioner are threatening her as they did not appreciate this step of the petitioner.

3.Issue notice.

4.Notice is accepted by Ms.Nandita Rao, the learned ASC for the respondents. respondents.

5.Keeping in view the above facts and circumstances, and the averments in the petition, it is directed that the petitioner shall approach the Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station: Baba Haridas Nagar, Najafgarh, Delhi. The SHO shall share with the petitioner his telephone number as also that of the Beat Constable.

6.In the event any threat is perceived by the petitioner, she shall communicate the same to the concerned Beat Constable as well as to the SHO on the aforesaid numbers so provided, who shall take steps to provide security/protection to the petitioner.

7.The SHO shall also look into the request of the petitioner for place to live at any State-Run Women Shelter or Women Hostel.

8.The petition along with the pending application is disposed of with the above direction.
