2.This petition has been filed praying for issuance of direction to the respondent nos. 1 to 3 to provide necessary police protection/security to the petitioners against the threats allegedly received from the family members of the petitioner no. 1.
3.It is stated that the petitioners have got married to each other on 16.01.2024 against the wishes of respondent nos. 4 to 8 and, therefore, are being threatened.
4.Issue notice.
5.Notice is accepted by Ms.Rupali Bandhopadhya, learned Additional Standing Counsel on behalf of the respondent nos. 1 to 3.
6.She submits that the petitioners have addressed correspondence
to the SHO of the concerned police station stating that now they do not have any threat from any person. They also record that the SHO has shared his phone numbers with the petitioners.
7.On the other hand, the learned counsel for the petitioners still insists that necessary direction in this regard be passed.
8.Without entering into the controversy, it is directed that the SHO of the concerned police station, where the petitioners are residing, shall share his phone number as also the phone number of the beat constable who may be contacted by the petitioners in case of any threat being extended to the petitioners. The SHO and the concerned beat constable shall immediately act on any such call received from the petitioners.
9.The petition along with the pending application is disposed of in the above terms.
