3.The present petition has been filed by the petitioner raising grievance that the request of the petitioner for registration as an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and issue of an OCI Card has not been acceded to.
4.Learned counsel for the petitioner emphasizes that the petitioner having been born on 05.02.1970 at Mysuru, Karnataka, India, qualifies as an OCI and therefore is entitled for registration and issuance of an OCI Card.
5.It is submitted that numerous representations have been made to the Indian Consulate at Berne, Switzerland in this regard, however, no response thereto has been received by the petitioner.
6.After some hearing, the present petition is disposed of with direction
to the respondent / Union of India to treat the present petition itself as representation and decide the petitioner’s request for registration as an OCI Cardholder, taking into account the pleas raised in the present petition.
7.In case any further documents are required from the respondents to process the petitioner’s request, the same may be called for from the petitioner.
8.Let the aforesaid exercise be concluded within period of eight weeks from today.
9.The present petition is disposed of in the above terms.
